If you’re planning on buying anything expensive from Apple, log in or create an account, find what you want, add it to your cart, and go to checkout, but don’t actually buy it. Then, do nothing.
7-10 days later, you should get a call from Apple offering you 15 to 20% off your purchase if you buy it then and there.

I spent 7 years in retail, so I know what it feels like on the other side of the counter. While I think the patdowns are excessive and probably rather ineffective, try to remember that the poor guy/gal that has to do them probably can’t even afford to go visit their family for the holidays.
Be angry with the policy, be angry with your elected representatives, but give the person (who may be every bit as embarrassed as you) a break, or at least treat them with some dignity, god knows their employer doesn’t.
